VISION AWARDS HONORS HOLLYWOOD'S "FUND THE CURE" PROJECT HONOREES FROM FILM, TELEVISION, MUSIC AND MEDICAL RESEARCH TO BE HONORED JUNE 27,2004, BEVERLY HILTON HOTEL, INTERNATIONAL BALLROOM
For nearly 31 years, Hollywood's fairytale story of expressing vision and entertainment have led the way toward a cure or treatment for the degenerative eye diseases that affect 37 million Americans. Macular degeneration, now considered epidemic in babyboomers of the remembered sixties, no faces a "retirement of blindness", or a cure, through the new research catapulted by RP International's relentless pursuit and Hollywood's "Fund the Cure" Vision Awards, held every year. The event has honored the top of the list in directors such as Oliver Stone and Jim Cameron. Television's daytime champion Bill Bell and film actress Meg Ryan presented honors to Lawrence Kasdan in a past event. Baz Luhrman and Burt Bacharach closed the 30th Vision Awards at the 2003 event, and this year's list is boasting a new line-up of talented, visionary people.

Harry Belafonte will receive the "Music Artist of Vision" award, and will be on hand with director John Singleton and Cannes Film Festival Best Director winners David Lynch and Gus Van Sant, heading the list of an evening of vision, everybody's vision. RP International has hosted the Vision Awards each year for 30 years, now the 31st is bringing out an even more exciting line-up.

The medical research breakthrough winners of the past awards now lead the way in restoring eyesight, and this years's medical recipient will be announced shortly. Keeping up with the past successes of the Jules Stein Eye Institute Living Tribute Award recipients will be difficult. However, the Vision Awards is proud to be the stage launching all of this "end of blindness" search for 31 years now.

Established in 1972, the organization started down a road of uncertainty with a hopeless future predicted on all research fronts. Relentless in it's passion to bring blindness to the forefront of understanding, education, quality of life and a final cure, RPI's now blind founder, Helen Harris, still passionately pursues the final cure for all of us and our potential family members and freinds, since degeneratve blindness can strike anyone at anytime. The event on June 27 heralds 31 years of Hollywood's best.
